What do you do to keep the balance in your home? Have you tried aromatherapy using essential oils? There are several ways to use essential oils effectively and the blend that you use will depend on your desired outcome. In this post, I want to tell you about my new defuser and the blends that I got to go along with it. I want to give a huge Thank You to Organic Aromas for sending me the Explorer Kit to try out.

So I want to start by saying this is the first real diffuser I have had. I have tried other ways to use essential oils like is a burner, applying them directly to my skin (feet is the best way for that), adding it to a hot bath, and inhaling them by applying them to my hands and breathing it in. Those methods worked for the most part. This is a whole new test for me though.

Since the pandemic started we have been homeschooling like everyone else and it gets stressful. I don't mean that little bit of stress but that big stress. Social media is flooded with jokes about parent's homeschooling but on a serious note, the kids are just as stressed as their new teachers. They are having to learn in a completely different environment than they have been used to since the beginning of their school career. They miss their friends and I think the structure is needed. We don't have a very well lit area with an individual desk for her to sit at to work on her assignments. We have a very neutral tranquil home and I am producing more naps and snacks than I am completed assignments with her.

Let's just be honest with ourselves, teachers are awesome. I have no idea how they are teaching 25 kids at a time when I can't even manage to teach one. And the kicker, the lessons are here with her laptop. I have to do minimal teaching because my daughter's teachers are awesome and made packets.  And she's a teenager, she knows pretty much everything that she's doing. Some of this is just so different than what I ever remember. I know I passed the grade that she is in, in the state we live in. The curriculum shouldn't have changed too much.

All of that being said, I need something to get focus for all of us. A way to change the atmosphere without having to remodel my whole house. After a bunch of research on this over the years, aromatherapy is the best way to revamp a space quickly. Another great thing about that is you can change it several times per day to make it cater to your needs. Isn't that awesome!!

When it comes to using essential oils there really is no wrong way to do it. It's really easy to research what oils are good for what purpose. Starting with the basics, the three major parts of the day, waking up, focusing, and relaxing. In my opinion, those are all key components.

• Motivation needs a citrus blend is great for getting moving and feeling happy in the mornings. 
• For focus using peppermint, sweet orange, spearmint, and rosemary.
• Relaxing and helping wind down would be lavender.

Lavender- the oil promotes relaxation and believed to treat anxiety, fungal infections, allergies, depression, insomnia, eczema, nausea, and menstrual cramps

Sweet Orange- Increases blood flow helping with energy, focus, and more.

Rosemary- is known to stimulate hair growth, reduce pain, soothe inflammation, eliminate headaches, strengthen the immune system, and condition hair to make it look and feel healthy.




Peppermint-  Has been found to eliminate harmful bacteria, relieve muscle spasms and flatulence, disinfect and soothe inflamed skin, and release muscle tension when used in a massage.

Energy Blend- Spearmint, Peppermint, Mellissa, Tangerine, Rosewood

Purity Blend- Citronella, White Camphor, Lemongrass, Tea Tree, Rosemary, Lavender





The Explorer kit came with the Ellagence diffuser (RV $95). This is a beautifully crafted diffuser that comes in the dark wood model. If you are purchasing separately, there is a light wood base option. One thing that I do love about the packaging is it is very well packaged. There are several small glass pieces and they are each wrapped and placed in their own sections to keep them safe during the shipping process. I love the precautions they have taken. Take it from someone that knows personally, it's not nice receiving broken dishes in the mail.
