Valentine's Day is so much fun for all ages. For kids, it's a whole new way to make friends and let that secret someone know that you think they are extra special.  It's so much fun because you get to share with everyone in the class.

When I was in third grade I had the hugest crush on this boy named Kevin. Looking back on it, I may have been a tad stalkerish. He was the cutest boy in our class AND he was the new kid. He didn't know I was known as the clumsy kid. I knew his favorite kind of gum because he was my older sisters' best friend Danielle's little cousin. The extra intel was awesome! I think I was scammed into doing my sisters chores for all of it though. I'm pretty sure they didn't pass along the notes I sent. HAHAHAHA

When Valentine's Day rolled around my mom made goodies for the whole class. She did it for every holiday so I helped make his cookie and I felt completely accomplished. Extra candy in his cookie!! On his little card, extra stickers, and because my name is only 3 letters and I didn't have to use my initial like the other girls with double names in our class, I added hearts to it. The gift in whole was a masterpiece.

Kids can't do that anymore. Anytime we send in a class snack there is a list of guidelines that we have to follow and everything has to be individually wrapped and sealed. The only exception is prepackaged cookies from the grocery store with an ingredient list that has to be submitted to the nurse prior to the party.
