We all know the importance of having convenience while we are on the go. Life has changed so much since I was younger. Now, we have Pinn. When I was a kid we had rotary phones.
I remember our phones. They were attached to a base by a long cord. When my mom was my age, calling someone meant calling before you left the house or stopping at a payphone along the way.
Nowadays, that's not the case. We are so digital, I don't think my kids could use a standard house phone. A matter of fact, we went on a trip that landed us a hotel stay. Aron and I went to the store leaving our 15-year-old in the room. We called to check in she didn't know what to do. She texted us that there was a phone ringing. We laughed.
When we got back, we went through the process of how to answer a landline phone. It wasn't until that moment that I realized, answering a phone is indeed a skill. I had always thought that was an unnecessary question, anyone can answer a phone, right? Wrong.
I called the front desk from my cell and asked for our room. it was patched through so I answered it. I handed her the phone so she could see that it was a phone. We were all laughing because she had no idea what the cord was for. Was it an old-fashioned charger??
The phone is going to ring. When it does, pick it up and say hello. When you are done talking, hang it up.
She said hello to me, I said hello back and I said ok, hang it up. She set it on the table and walked away. I said that's not hung up. Try again. We were all hysterical by this point. She was laying on her side, just reaching for the base.
She held the receiver, traced the cord back with her hands and set it next to the phone base again. We went through this for at least 3 minutes before I showed her how to hang it up. It was definitely an experience.
That just showed me how much we depend on our mobile phones and smart devices. From what seemed like a very average task, has definitely been lost in the generational gap.
What do you use to make your very convenient digital devices even more convenient?
We have so many gadgets that go with our devices to make them more user-friendly and usually hands-free. I mean, when I was a kid, I would have never imagined having a phone that I could put in my pocket, to take out to use whenever I felt like it. Let alone have devices to add to it to make it hands-free. What kind of Space Man Jive is this?
That's where the Pinn comes into play. This is so neat. It's a hands-free device with an earbud so I can worry-free be able to do everything I want, at one time.
Getting the Pinn ready
This it's a small clip that has the earbud clips right to so there is only one charger needed. They sync together and to the device so I can receive all of my notifications including my messages, caller id, and more right on its screen so I don't have to dig my phone out of my pocket or bag just to answer or reply. It's so neat.
The volume buttons are on the side of the Pinn, as well as the power button, charger port, and home screen. It reminds me of the in-between times of a house phone and a cell phone. That one little device that made it huge then faded away called a pager. This is like a pager 2000.
I can listen to music too. I am doing it right now. The clarity is amazing. I can control the volume on my device or on the Pinn. I can pause or play with the button on the top of the earbud. This is so cool and so easy to use.
The clip is nice and sturdy. It doesn't gouge clothes or even leave a pucker on the fabric but it stays in place all at the same time.
If you are looking for convenience, quality, and just an all-around cool product, this is it. I would gift this on holidays.
