Recently we started working with WowWee. You may have seen my review of MagnFlex, We are working with them again! Have you heard of Coder Mip? This is a learning robot that is perfect for kids at home or in the classroom.
This is recommended for ages 8+. I think any kids with the understanding of how it works is a great age for it. Learning at your own pace is a great way to go. My 6-year-old nephew LOVES it! So does my 11-year-old daughter. They both do things so differently.
How I know this thing is awesome by kid standards- Cassie took off with it awhile ago and hasn't brought him back saying "Cool, Mom" and heading back to her DIY videos on Youtube. She's actually been playing with him for a long time. I love it when she can interact with stuff hands on and learn as she goes.
I could hear her laughing really hard and I asked what was so funny. She had him coded to rotate, converse, fart, on repeat. I have to admit, it was really funny. Then hearing her laugh made it even funnier. Her friend just called and she said: "My mom got me a ROBOT" I was definitely thinking ~ Mom-Win~. If it's not such a cool toy she doesn't even mention it to her friends.
This is a toy that isn't just a toy. It's an amazing interactive tool that creates movement. I love that. There are 2 different apps that this guy works with. That means more options and endless hours of fun! They are both available for Google play and iTunes. it's a free download on both platforms. I love it that there are no additional costs to keep this guy moving.
You can find both apps on the WowWee website HERE or click the links below to check them out.
Coder MiP APP Google Play
Coder MiP App iTunes
MiP APP Google Play
MiP APP iTunes
The apps connect with him instantly, there is no holding, keying in anything, waiting for a digital squeal, or anything like that. It was right there on the screen and ready to go! One great thing is - if for some reason it disconnects, a pop up says so. That way you are not left hanging for when it does connect back up.
The Coder MiP app lets you code MiP to do anything you want. He can move forward, backward, rotate, fart, burp, drink, converse, and so much more. He can talk and even do an awesome light show with his eyes and chest. The lights are green, yellow, blue, magenta, cyan, white, and red.
This is so cool and so easy to set up. It's already assembled and it comes with extra off road tires for stunts. It has a balance board and a ramp. He does so much cool stuff my brain is overloaded and it wants to type everything at once.
Here are some of the fun features I like about the Coder Mip Robot.
Single and Dual Joystick.
Drive was the first thing that came up. There are two options for driving. Single and Dual control. For a single joystick, it is all four directions with just one compass. What I mean is a circle with four triangles. this is for moving forward, backward, left and right.
The Dual control is just like that except there are two circles for directionals. On the left side, one thumb for forward and back, the other thumb for left and right, it doesn't get any easier than that. Even little learning hands can master this with no problem.
In the app, you can connect more than one MiP. You can pick Boxing, Battle, Drive, Path, Dance, and Stacking Game.
The dancing game is able to connect to music so your MiP can get down and rock out with you :)
Your MiP can carry stuff on his tray and bring it to another location. Cassie thought it was awesome to bring Aron a drink from the kitchen to the bedroom. The self-balancing robot stays standing upright while he moved. Unless you code him to fall (LOL). That's my finishing move for every sequence.
I think this is an awesome option for kids. It's like the best of both worlds. Everything has turned so digital. I mean that with the best. I am constantly online and glued to my devices. This is a way to get the hands and brain working along with the body to participate.
Keep up to date on all of their awesomeness and check
