6 Ways To Be Cool In The Summer

The summer is coming up on us so fast. It seems like it was just last week we were still cranking the heat up. Now we are already setting on the air. It's crazy how fast it went. We have been trying to figure out the best way to cool our home for us. We have a central system but, the compressor went out and I'm not thinking the $3,500 to get it fixed is in our budget at this time.

I want to share an awesome list of ideas to help stay cool this summer.

Portable Air Conditioners

It's usually only Aron and me here for most of the day. The girls have other stuff to do with the band, friends, and singing. Why cool the entire house if we are only using 1-2 rooms, and that's a stretch, usually we are in the same room. The living room or the bedroom.

The portable air conditioner can go from place to place easily without having to assemble each location. I like that idea.

Water Fun

There is so much fun stuff to do with water to keep cool. Swimming, skiing, sprinklers, slip and slides, water balloon war, and so much more!! Oh ya, don't forget the hose!

It's so much fun playing in the water. We used to go down to the cottage on the Kankakee River when I was little and do all kinds of stuff. I loved the boat rides and being able to be pulled by the boat on my big turtle. It was a blast!! All of the cousins would ski and spend all day out on the water.

Ice Cream Shop

I love going to the ice cream shop. Our local shop is called Sweet Tooth. It's only open for a few months out of the year so we soak it up as much as we can. When I was little, it was the Ice Cream Turck, We would scream for 2 blocks for him to stop.

We all have our favorite specialty. I like the Hot Fudge Cake, Cassie likes the Avalanche with Butterfingers and M & M's, Aron like Avalanches with Oreo's. and Abby likes the Nachos.We look forward to it every spring.

Theme Parks

Getting out of the house is an awesome adventure. Going on rides and feeling the wind in your hair is just so much fun! We went to Lake Winnie the last 2 years in a row. It's an amazing park with dry rides like bumper cars, the high rise drop, a carousel, and so much more.

For us, they have a water park too. The Soakya Water Park. That is a place for the whole family with the Lazy River, Water Slides, and so much fun. We're going back this year too :)

Camping

Camping is fun. I have not been in years but, it would be a blast. That is an adventurous way to get out of the house. Finding nice shady area's to hang a hammock and enjoy the nice summer breeze!

Stay hydrated

Drinking plenty of water is a great way to stay cool in the warm weather so make it fun! Freeze flavored ice cubes. Make homemade slushies and other tasty water-based drinks to keep that temperature down,

These are grear tips for staying cool in the summer, thanks for sharing! We live in Texas and have 3 kids under 8 so this is definitely important to us!
