How To Make A Homemade Personalized Keepsake Book with Printables

Have you ever seen something and were totally inspired? What about DIY projects? We love DIY projects. Crafting is so cool. It does take a lot of time for the super cool stuff so we don't get to spend as much time on it as we would like.

All of the kids in our family like different stuff. Different themes and things like that. It's cool because of their individuality but sometimes makes shopping hard if you can't find exactly what you're looking for. Coloring, is always an awesome thing for all of them.

So, guess what I'm going to do the most awesome Auntie stuff EVER!!! I'm going to make them each a book. That's right. Their very own book. I had the opportunity to work with Marigold on a review of Marigold 19-hole Letter Size Comb Ring Binding Machine Paper Punch Book Binder with Starter Kit

This is one of the coolest machines I have ever seen. Oh yes oh yes, I am awesome. The sky is the limit!!! There is nothing better than knowing I am helping their brains grow, meanwhile, I am giving my little sister the best gift of all, memories.

Creating the pages on Canva

So what I did to start was go to my favorite editor to create some graphics. I wanted to make something special so I personalized
their front pages. It is so easy to make these cool printable pages too.

It was really easy to create the pages. I went to Canva and used their premade frames and lines to frame out the pages so they could use up the space but still stay "in the lines". I did three pages for each of them that are the same. Pretty much so me and my sister can look at them and say AWE. Just to see what they are looking at when they are looking at the same thing.
I picked different frames so that way all of the pages are different. Just to make it a little bit more exciting. When you make your book you can make it any way that you want to. They can be the same or different. On colored paper or plain white. That's what I love about Canva and making this book.

Sammy's personal pages that are different that Kay's because he is older. But as you can see, it's easy to just type in something else.

Sammy just had a birthday and we got him the coolest set ever! A Magic Set!!! I love this kid. He won my heart the first time I saw his sweet little face!!!He has the sense of humor and coordination of a magician already!!!

Kays's personal pages are pretty simple. She's such a sweet tiny little girl. She's 3 and is just as brilliant as they come!

She was born on my birthday! There is no better birthday gift that that!!
She knows all of her colors and shapes. Letters and numbers are no matches and what absolutely blows my mind is she even knows her phone number and address!

I have had a blast setting up the pages for this book. I made an intro page for both books too. It has "This book belongs to" with 3 lines for their first, middle, and last names :) Then a note from Auntie,

Sammy is my little Buddy and Kaya is my little Munchkin. They know it too.

Printing and Setting the Pages

When I print out the pages, I am only printing on one side. I want them to have plenty of room to be as creative as possible. Keeping in mind these are the little moments that make memories. My plan is to get Sammy and Kaya here for the day and have them color them so they can give these books to her for her birthday. This is the most amazing little keepsake :)

Who better to illustrate such important pages but three-year-old Kaya and six-year-old Sammy.

So, my pages are printed and put in order that I want them to be read. Using the hole punch is SO EASY! I am going to walk you through setting that up.

Open the box.
Take the machine out of its protective shipping pieces.
Slide the handle on the knob and add the screw for stability.
Done!

It was really that easy. This is the whole kit so making a LOT of books will be so simple. The starter kit comes with a whole box of binders. They are black plastic spines that slide right into the holes to make the book complete.

All I had to do it make sure my papers were straight, pull the handle, and that was it. The holes were punched. All that is left is adding in the binder. The tabs wrap around the paper and hold them in place.

At first, I was worried that the tabs wouldn't hold because this was my first time making a book. But the tabs are long enough to wrap around the paper and have more room after that. It was so cool and so easy!  This is the best gift ever!!

Ok so, update!! I couldn't wait until my sisters birthday. I couldn't even make it through this post. I had to tell her. I had to show her these magical little keepsakes that I know the kids will love now and she will love forever!!
